Zebrasoma flavescens
The yellow tang is the most iconic reef tank fish — a solid lemon-yellow disc that constantly grazes algae across the rock work. They are active, hardy, and excellent algae controllers for reef tanks. However, they need large tanks (75+ gallons minimum), can be aggressive toward similar-shaped fish, and have become significantly more expensive following collection bans in Hawaii.

Danio margaritatus
Celestial pearl danios (also called galaxy rasboras) are tiny, jewel-like fish discovered in Myanmar in 2006. Their dark blue body is covered in iridescent pearl-white spots, with bright orange-red fins striped with black. Despite their exotic appearance, they are hardy and easy to care for — one of the hobby's best-kept secrets for nano tanks.
